Areas burnt by fire will be promptly designated as areas to be reforested, following their surveying by satellite, as per a circular by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. The circular provides information about the measures to protect burnt areas, the actions for their restoration and the ways to fund such actions. The circular also provides for increase in controls and surveillance of burnt areas with the help of the police and other nature guarding bodies, so as to exclude any change in use or encroachment of forest areas. Grazing and hunting will also be prohibited in such areas.

As regards the actions to restore burnt areas, there will be an assessment of the need to realize anti-erosive and flood control projects, accompanied by studies should such projects be deemed necessary. There will also be artificial reforestation studies, where natural reforestation is not possible.
