The Amintas performance, initially scheduled for September 26, and cancelled due to the rain, is taking place on Monday, October 9. Ticket holders for the initially scheduled performance can use their tickets for admission, and presale tickets are still available here.

“Amintas”, Spiros Evangelatos’s last staged direction of a play is presented as a tribute to his memory.

With “Amintas”, the director concluded a career of more than 200 directed plays with state and private theater groups in Greece and abroad, perhaps most famously including his work for his “Amphi-theater”, with which he presented his work in dozens of Greek and international festivals. For the 1745 Georgios Mormoris translation of Torquato Tasso’s pastoral comedy Aminta, the celebrated director and academician noted: “The Greek text gives off a sense of teenage vivacity with a fascinating sense of humor and an exciting idiom, a product of bringing together the common language and a Kithira vernacular, with no shortage of scholarly or pseudo-scholarly elements. The entire performance is meant to evoke a dream-like quality, at times closer to a benevolent nightmare and at times springing towards a poetic farce”.

Starring in the performance are Odisseas Papaspiliopoulos, Fei Xila, Viki Volioti, Thanassis Kourlampas, Thanassis Dimou and others.
