Alternate Economy and Development Minister Alexis Charitsis, in an interview with Euronews on Monday, outlined the actions and priorities of the post-programme era in order to correct social injustices and strengthen the economic environment.

"We are going through a new phase now: ending the austerity policies, stopping austerity measures and slowly, in a rational way, we are entering into a phase of expansion," Charitsis said.

The minister said that the successes of the Greek government in 2016 and 2017 in relation to the achievement of fiscal targets, "constituted the passport for leaving the programme because they restored the country's credibility internationally, while also providing the fiscal space for measures that we could not have taken previously, such as action to provide tax relief for the people and the small and medium-sized enterprises that have been most significantly affected."

Such actions were also linked with the hiring needs at hospitals, schools and municipalities, he said.
