“Greece is now ready to exit the Excessive Deficit Procedure, turn the page on austerity and open a new chapter of growth, investment and employment”, said European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici addressing the EC College of Commissioners on Wednesday. There has been a massive reduction of Greece’s fiscal deficit since 2009, stated the Commissioner, adding that countries with a healthy fiscal tradition are in a worse fiscal state than Greece. “The country is finally reaping the benefits of its efforts”, said the Commissioner, the next step being its return to the markets.
Addressing the 1st Regional Council on Production Restructuring, held in Kozani, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stressed that yet another decisive step has been taken towards Greece’s definite exit from the crisis. New Democracy party also spoke of a positive development.
