French company “Total” or the Greek Cypriot Energy Ministry is likely to make a statement on Monday regarding the works of the drilling ship in block 11 of Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The Greek Cypriot government spokesperson stated that the works continue unobstructed, adding that despite of Turkey repeating its tactics, the Greek Cypriot government is closely monitoring the situation. Platform checks and preparatory works have been completed, and the drill is expected to reach a 4,000-feet depth. According to ENI – Total planning, the drilling will last 75 days.

French Defense Minister Florence Parly will be visiting Cyprus, on Monday, to meet with Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and her Greek Cypriot counterpart Christoforos Fokaidis. Mrs. Parly will also visit the French frigates that have reached Cyprus within the scope of their peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. It is estimated that the Minister’s visit at this time is not at all incidental, given that Paris is closely keeping up with the latest developments in the energy sector, due to Total’s involvement in the researches in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone.
