Private sector arrears to social insurance funds grew by 584,570,643 euros in the first quarter of 2018, of which 235,672,484 were basic debt and 348,898,159 euros were extra charges, KEAO, the national collection center of social insurance payments, said on Friday.

KEAO said a total of 43,577 new debtors were included in the first quarter of 2018, with total debt of 221,724,359 euros, raising the sum of total arrears to 31,869,976,751 euros. The report said that 839,891 debtors (69.02 pct of total) have a debt of up to 15,000 euros each. An 80 pct of debtors (976,779) have a debt of up to 30,000 euros each, another 91,368 debtors have a debt of 50-100,000 euros each (around 20 pct), while 1,733 debtors have a debt of more than one million each (21,67 pct of total debt).
