The Plenary of the European Parliament, which will convene from April 16 to April 19, will discuss the continued detention of the two Greek military officers in Edirne. The relevant proposals were submitted by the Party of the European Left and the European People’s Party. The rest political groups agreed with the proposals of these two groups.

The topic of the discussion will be “Violation of human rights and the rule of law in the case of the two Greek military officers arrested and kept in custody in Turkey”. Referring to the matter, European Parliament Vice-President and SYRIZA MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis stated, “We continue the efforts to make the issue international, and we keep on pressing the Turkish authorities so that they finally respect international law”.
