Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos will meet with his German counterpart Olaf Scholz in Berlin, on Friday. According to the German Finance Ministry, the two ministers will discuss issues of European policy. In view of the Eurogroup of April 27th and the end of Greece’s bailout program in August, they are also expected to discuss about the prospects of a debt relief for Greece, as well as about the Greek development program for the period after the end of the current program.
Mr. Scholz, the successor of Wolfgang Schäuble in the Finance Ministry, is called to balance between the views of his party, which is in favor of a debt settlement, and those of many members of CDU/CSU, who disagree with the prospect of a debt relief for Greece.
