French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian will be visiting Athens, on Thursday, to meet with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias.
According to diplomats, European issues such as the Brexit, the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as transatlantic relations will be some of the issues on the meeting agenda. The officials will also discuss the European prospect of the Western Balkans, which is ardently supported by Greece. The same sources say that the agreement of Prespes is a characteristic example of handling one of the long-standing issues in the area of the Balkans, by means of harsh but honest negotiations.
In addition, the officials will discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, focusing on the situation in Syria and the continuing fighting in the country, while Mr. Kotzias is expected to once again lay out Greece’s views on the Cyprus issue.
