BERLIN (ANA/F. Karaviti) - German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas will visit Athens and Skopje next week as part of a tour to southeastern Europe.

His spokesperson Maria Adebahr announced that the minister's first stop will be in Bucharest on Monday, September 17, where he will have political consultations and attend the so-called "Three Seas Initiative" summit as a guest.

On Tuesday, Maas will travel to Skopje and on Wednesday to Tirana. "In both countries, the issue will be primarily the reform process and the further course towards the European Union. In Skopje a central issue will be the talks on the historic agreement on the name dispute between Skopje and Athens," the spokesperson noted and pointed out that a crucial referendum on this agreement will be held in FYROM on September 30, which "will be an important milestone for the country."

The German foreign minister will complete his tour by carrying out his first visit to Athens, where bilateral issues and European policy issues will be discussed.
