The government has the responsibility of the negotiations with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (fYROM) and should try to achieve the widest possible consensus, Alternate Defence Minister Dimitris Vitsas told state broadcaster ERT on Friday.

"The government has the responsibility for the negotiation on the name of FYROM, and an effort must be made to build a consensual solution," he said, adding that Greece has a window of opportunity to resolve an issue that "has been troubling the country, the Balkans and the international community".
