The city of Ilioupoli festival enjoys the theater and opens its curtains to a series of performances starting on Wednesday, August 30, at the “Dimitris Kintis” open-air municipal theater, which, like every year, hosts some of the summer’s most remarkable theatrical productions, as well as previous years’ performances that have been praised by audiences and critics alike.

For close to a month, a number of important directors and established actors present their own take on esteemed texts of classical and modern -predominantly Greek- dramaturgy.

At the same time, the Ilioupoli Festival also strives to offer young people who have chosen to serve the arts a forum. Thus, this year, in its effort to promote, support and honor the city’s creative forces, the festival is hosting a tribute to talented Ilioupoli artists who are already charting a remarkable course. These include director, actor and musician Kostas Gakis, of whose three works will be presented; and performers and musicians Aspasia Stratigou, Thodoris Mermigkas, Nikos Mermigkas & Spyros Pantazis, who will be celebrating the Festival’s conclusion with a Greek music concert, to which admission will be free to the public.

Also, working with the various production companies, the Ilioupoli Festival has provided so ticket prices for the performances are as accessible as possible, with special provisions made for vulnerable social groups.
