After Monday’s Eurogroup, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici announced that the Institutions will be in Athens until October 23 for the third review. It is a “strong and common perception that the third review of Greece’s bailout program should be concluded before the end of 2017”, stated on his part Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem, adding that Greece should take advantage of the positive climate that has been created.
The Eurogroup of October 9th was also the last Eurogroup for Wolfgang Schäuble who, after eight years, is leaving his ministerial post taking the role of Speaker at the German Parliament. “We implemented a reliable economic policy that has produced more growth than any other policy. It is not easy to make decisions that are necessary yet unpopular. But it is not better not to make such decisions”, stated Mr. Schäuble before the Eurogroup.
