On the occasion of his official visit in Greece, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin visited, on Wednesday, the Naval Base of Salamis, accompanied by Greek National Defense Minister Panos Kammenos. The Israeli President stated that the creation of a joint regional force, through Greek-Israeli military cooperation, is the key for stability in the area, adding, “This cooperation serves and contributes to both countries’ security”. On his part, Panos Kammenos said that the presence of the Israeli President at the Fleet Headquarters sends a very strong message of peace, cooperation, stability and progress.
Both the Israeli President and the National Defense Minister stressed the need to ensure the free transport of sea energy resources, which is very important for Europe. Mr. Rivlin also visited the area of the historic battle of Salamis, for which he said, “The events that took place here changed the course of the world history”.
