“Any solution to the Cyprus problem will have to be a European solution because the EU offers the best prospects for lasting peace, prosperity for both communities and the whole country, and stability in the region”, stressed European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in a letter to Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

“The EU provides a strong framework within which the historical ties of the two communities should be further consolidated”, read the letter, where Mr. Juncker also underlined that both himself and the European Commission as a whole “will stand on your side in this process”, guaranteeing “the Commission’s continued support for the continuation of the talks”.
