The release of the two Greek soldiers was expected, Alternate Defence Minister Fotis Kouvelis said on Sunday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

He underlined that their release was the result of the government and especially Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' constant efforts.

Referring to the recent fires in the area of Mati, he explained that the government made its choices based on the collective interest without taking into account the opposition that may occur.

Asked on the period after the memoranda, Kouvelis said that the government has laid the foundations so that the country proceeds to growth and all social injustices are fixed. He added that all those people who suffered by the eight-year crisis will be supported.
