A large fire is raging since Friday afternoon in the Kassandra peninsula of Halkidiki, burning a pine forest in the area of Mola Kalyva, the fire brigade said.

The strong winds helped the flames spread quickly and reach some houses, although no damages or injuries have been reported. The area is covered in thick smoke. Three Canadair planes, one helicopter, 45 firemen with 22 vehicles, a team of 17 men on foot and dozens of volunteers are operating in the area.
