At least 50 people have died and 156 have been injured -11 of them being in critical condition- from the fires that broke out in Eastern and Western Attica on Monday noon and are still raging in some places.

Rescuers made huge efforts throughout the night to save people from the broader sea area of Rafina. Hellenic Coastguard vessels and other vessels rescued 696 people in total from the beaches. According to the Fire Service, three fires are still burning in Kineta, Western Attica and Kalamos, while other big fires are also burning in Korinthia, Chania and Fthiotida.
