Main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis criticized the clashes between riot police and hooded youths in central Athens during a demostration marking the nine-year anniversary from the police killing of a high school student, saying that the government does not let the police do their job.

"Clashes, molotovs [cocktails], smashing of shops? once again a scene of chaos in central Athens. These are 'their own boys', as [Deputy PM] Mr. [Yiannis] Dragasakis said yesterday, which is obviously why they don’t let the police do their job," he tweeted.
