“Greece is governed by rule of law, and has a Prime Minister who respects and knows the procedures of Greek Justice, and not a Sultan who makes promises as to its decisions” the Prime Minister’s Press Office replied to the new recent provocative statements of the Turkish President, who linked the issue of the two Greek military officers kept in Edirne with the issue of the eight Turkish officers who asked for political asylum in Greece after the failed coup in the neighboring country.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chooses to follow an unreasonably slippery road of provocative statements, equating two utterly different cases, says the Greek government, adding that if the Turkish President wishes to lead a State abiding by law, he must explain why Ankara still keeps the two Greek military officers in custody, although they did nothing more than passing to the Turkish territory by a few meters while investigating for illegal passages.
