According to police sources, the nine Turkish citizens (eight men and one woman) that were arrested on Tuesday in three apartments in Athens, after a coordinated operation of the Anti-terrorist Unit, appear to be members of the DHKP-C organization (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front) operating in Turkey. According to AMNA, this group appears to be linked with an older case of transporting arms with a vessel found on Chios island, in 2013.
The interest of the Hellenic Police is focused on the materials for constructing bombs, found in the apartments, and the police investigate the reason why they were found in their possession. These are detonators, batteries, dynamite clocks and other materials used for making simple explosive devices.
