Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is visiting Brussels to attend the two-day EU Summit starting on Thursday. The refugee/migrant issue, Brexit and the operation of the Eurozone will be the main items on the Summit agenda.

In the informal workshop on the refugee/migrant issue, which was convened in Brussels last Sunday by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and was attended by heads of states and governments of 16 EU countries, the Greek Premier had stressed that the refugee and migrant crisis is a common European challenge and thus requires a European solution. More specifically, Mr. Tsipras suggested that the European asylum system should be reviewed, the burden should be equally distributed to all countries, Frontex should be upgraded to a European Border and Coast Guard, and first-receipt countries should be supported, same as transit and origin countries.
