Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is visiting Gothenburg to attend the Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth, hosted by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. According to government sources, following the deadly floods that hit Attica on Wednesday, the Greek Premier will put the issue of European solidarity in tackling disasters and their consequences on the Summit agenda.
The Social Summit will mainly focus on the following issues: creation of a fair labor environment, equal opportunities and access to labor market, tackling of common challenges of EU member states’ social models, as well as social protection and social integration. Head of states and governments of EU countries, heads of European institutions, ministers, representatives of trade unions and employers’ associations, and civil society entities, among others, will attend the Social Summit.
