"It is now becoming more imperative than ever to face challenges and solve longstanding problems that divide us," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Monday shortly after his meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

He also said that the two Prime Ministers discussed all the issues, namely the relations between the two countries, the Euro-Turkish relations, the Cyprus issue and the developments in the region, and noted that "besides honest and essential, the talks were also necessary in this crucial period."

On his part Alexis Tsipras stated that "We agreed to prevent and not suppress tensions". The implementation of our agenda must be based on good-neighbourly relations and mutual respect without actions that undermine them. The Aegean must be a sea of peace and stability, said Mr. Tsipras.
