A 6.4 percentage point marker shows the “yes” ahead according to a poll in FYROM, ahead of the referendum on September 30 on the name of the neighboring country.
According to press agency MIA regarding the referendum question: “Are you in favor of joining the EU and NATO, through the acceptance of the agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Greece?” a recent poll shows that 41.5% of Skopjans is in favor of “yes”, while 35.1% is opposed. However, there are significant divergences between the neighboring country’s different ethnic groups.
In particular, among the Slavic-Macedonians, only 27.4% are in favor, while 45.2% reject the agreement. On the other hand, 88% of Albanians support the agreement. In any case, however, the overwhelming majority of Skopjans continues to support the EU membership (80.4%) and NATO (79.9%).
