French President Emmanuel Macron is arriving at Athens on Thursday, for a two-day visit, sending a message of support to Greece and trust that it will recover. According to French Presidency sources, it is also a message for Europe’s recovery through Greece, which has become the symbol of the European economic crisis. Commenting on Macron’s visit in Athens, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stressed the government’s determination to proceed to infrastructure projects and investments, both public and private, in the direction of growth.

According to Agence France-Presse, the visit of the French President in Athens will be full of symbolisms, the greatest being his speech on democracy from the Pnyx. President Macron will be accompanied by Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire, Minister for European Affairs Nathalie Loiseau and 40 French businessmen who will meet with representatives of the Greek business world, to specify opportunities and difficulties as regards investments in Greece, especially in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, transport and the environment.
