According to the official results for the presidential elections in Cyprus, none of the candidates achieved the necessary majority in the first round. As a result, the election of the President will be determined in the second round next Sunday, when the two candidates with the largest number of votes will compete: Nicos Anastasiades (Democratic Rally), who is competing for a second office, and Stavros Malas (Progressive Party of Working People).

 

395,915 citizens voted in the elections (71.87%), while abstention reached 28.13%. According to the final results, Nicos Anastasiades won 35.5% of the votes, while Stavros Malas 30.25%.
