The National Radio and Television Council (RTC) approved the invitation to tender for seven private television licences on Tuesday.

The channels will be national in scope and of general programming, and the call for bids will be formally published on November 20. It will also be uploaded on the council’s web page.

The deadline for submission of bids will be 45 days from the day of publication.

Digital Policy ministry sources, responding to opposition questions, insisted that ?the (full) price for licences will be paid, the advertisement tax will not be cancelled, and television stations will have at least 400 employees each.?
