The negotiations between the Greek government and the creditors are intensified to complete the second bailout program review. Wolfgang Schäuble says “Yes” to short-term measures for relief of Greece’s debt. The spokesperson of the German Finance Minister stated to AMNA that the propositions by the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) are being processed and call for prolongation of loan repayments, write-off of certain levies and protection from the risk of interest-rate increases.
Labor Minister Efi Achtsioglou expects a preliminary political agreement in Monday’s Eurogroup. As regards labor issues, Mrs. Achtsioglou stressed that the issue is deeply political and cannot be resolved on a technical level. Gianni Pittella, President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, stated that the acquis communautaire in labor issues should also apply to Greece.
