The Center for Women’s Studies and Research, Diotima, has announced a short film contest entitled “Young Creators Against Violence Towards Women: Do not overlook”.
“If you are a student or an independent artist from 18 to 30 years old, we want to hear your voice. Pick up a camera, turn on the microphone and tell a story about gender violence in the form of a five minute short fiction film, documentary, visual poem, or any other genre of your choice. Talk about a daily phenomenon that remains “invisible” and contribute to the awareness and mobilization of your fellow citizens”.
The Center is accepting submissions until the 31st of May, 2018. The films should be submitted electronically via wetransfer and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. The jury, comprised of Eva Stefani (film director), Evi Karabatsou (film director) and Despina Tsouma (Diotima communication consultant) will select the 10 best films, which will be announced on June 11, 2018. The selected films will be uploaded on the Diotima web site in order for the public to vote.
1 Jury Award: € 1,000
1 Audience Award: 1.000 Euro
2 Honorable Distinctions
The competition is part of the new Pan-Hellenic Campaign against gender violence, which was symbolically launched on March 8, 2018 and is entitled “One more campaign that should not be necessary.” The campaign’s goal is to mobilize everyone so that no one overlooks gender violence incidents. The campaign is part of the SPEAK program, which provides free legal aid to low-income women and organizes awareness-raising workshops and campaigns.
