Deputy Employment Minister, Rania Antonopoulou, in her interview to ERT expressed her optimism about the possibility of achieving a reduction of unemployment rate by 4%-5% by 2019 and a total of 10% in a 4-year period.

“Anyone who claims that unemployment has increased during our administration, is lying,” said Antonopoulou and accused “New Democracy”, the major opposition party, of interpreting evidence in a way that distorts reality.

According to a report by Hellenic Statistical System (ELSS), unemployment rate in April 2017 declined to 21.7% from 27.2% in 2014, while 230,000 new jobs have been created, more than half of which (50%) are full-time jobs.
