Workers at the Sunlight Systems factory will still get paid and their contracts will be honored despite not being able to work until damage from a fire in May is restored, the Labor Ministry said on Thursday.

The northern Greek factory has agreed it will not lay off staff and pay workers and cover their insurance until the section of the factory they worked in goes back into operation. Part of the payroll funding will come from unemployment funds approved by the Labor Ministry and the Greek Manpower Employment Organization (OAED).

According to FortuneGreece.com, Sunlight Systems is a major exporter of power accumulators and industrial batteries, and operates the only factory in Greece for the recycling of lead.
