The government is considering switching directly to a digital radio signal, General Secretary for Information and Communication Lefteris Kreskos revealed in an interview with the radio station 24/7 on Monday.

Kretsos referred to the need to create a "Digea" for radio frequencies, where the price will be set by the market, since the licenses will be auctioned. The competition and the starting price will be decided by the Greek National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV).

He noted that a digital radio broadcasting system could support the operation of up to 18 national stations and 60-68 regional radio stations.
