According to exclusive information by ERT, Director of the IMF’s European Department Poul Thomsen has sent a letter to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, asking the acceleration of the procedures for the relief of Greece’s debt. Mr. Thomsen is allegedly asking to start talks on Greece’s debt as soon as possible.

According to the current timescale, talks on debt are expected to start in February, on condition that the third review is successfully concluded up to that point. We should get over with Greece’s debt so as to make it viable and allow Greece to return to the markets once and for all, before the end of the bailout program, wrote Mr. Thomsen.
