The tripartite Greece-Cyprus-Egypt Summit, held in Nicosia on Tuesday, is part of the greater partnership strategy developed by the Greek government in the area of the Eastern Mediterranean, and strengthens Greece’s geostrategic role in the broader area. Energy, economy and issues of geostrategic interest are the main items on the Summit’s agenda. More specifically, the parties will discuss the designation of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the defense partnership and the latest regional developments.
The three countries will also sign a memorandum of understanding in the area of tourism, focused on cruises. The expansion of activities of Greek construction companies in projects in Egypt and the “interporto” cooperation of Suez with Greek ports will also be discussed. In addition, within the scope of the close cooperation of the three countries, the symbolic and iconic project of planting an olive grove on Mount Sinai, with olive trees from Greece and Cyprus, is completed.
