Twenty-three ambassadors paid a visit to the facilities of Apivita natural cosmetics company in Markopoulo, SE of Athens, on Tuesday.
Company president Nikos Koutsianas said the invitation was for ambassadors to tour the bioclimatic factory of Apivita, the beehives, and the Hippocratic garden of the company and see an example of a company following sustainable development principles. ?Its products originate from the Greek nature, from apiary products, and, naturally, from the holistic philosophy of Hippocrates,? the legendary physician of classical Greece, he said.
The facilities use natural lighting and ventilation, rainwater is collected for irrigation of the gardens of indigenous Greek plants and herbs, waste products are processed organically, a geothermal system is in place, and roofs have been covered with plants.
Company staff gave tours of the company's sections. The tour was joined also by Deputy Foreign Minister for Overseas Greeks Terens Quick and export agency Enterprise Greece president Christos Staikos.
The visiting ambassadors represented the following countries: Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Mexico, Morocco, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United States of America, and Vietnam.
