According to Eurostat, the unemployment rate in the Eurozone reached 8.7% in December 2017, that is it reached the same levels as those of November, but was significantly lower compared to the 9.7% in December 2016. This is the lowest unemployment rate in the Eurozone since January 2009.

In Greece, the unemployment rated dropped to 20.7% in October, compared to 23.3% in October 2016, recording the greatest drop in the European Union, on a 12-month basis, but still remaining the highest rate in the Economic and Monetary Union. In the European Union, the unemployment rate dropped to 7.3% in December, compared to 8.2% in December 2016. This is the lowest rate since October 2008.
