Two demonstrations were held at the center of Athens, on Wednesday, on the occasion of the nine-year anniversary from the killing of 16-year old Alexis Grigoropoulos, on December 6th, 2008, by a police officer.

The first demonstration at the Propylaea of the University of Athens, at noon, was organized by pupil and student associations, while organizations of anti-establishment activists and the extra-parliamentary left gathered at the same spot in the afternoon for a second demonstration.

During the demonstrations, there were violent incidents between demonstrators and police forces, when hooded persons caused damages to window shops and traffic lights, and set garbage bins on fire, with the police responding by throwing tear gas and chemicals.
