Deputy Foreign Minister Terens Quick met on Thursday with a delegation of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) headed by Nikos Larygakis.
According to the minister's announcement their talks focused on the role of the Greek diaspora and their organisations for the promotion of national issues in the US at all levels.
In a statement after the meeting, Quick said it was useful and that he had underlined to AHI the importance of the Greek lobby for promoting major foreign policy issues, while noting that, for several years, lobbying efforts had declined significantly.
"We must rally. We must persuade younger generations of Greeks abroad to become involved in public affairs and politics," said Quick, highlighting the importance of investing in young people.
