Athens International Film Festival-Opening Nights, which will be held from September 21 to October 2, 2016, honours director Nikos Triantafyllidis through a great tribute that includes a full retrospective of his work, in the presence of collaborators and friends who will share with the audience personal stories, as well as a special night with music and films at Gagarin 205, exhibitions with unpublished material, and special moments from Triantafyllidis’ career as a radio producer.
Pedro Almodóvar, the great contemporary Spanish director, returns with his new film “Julieta” as the perfect opening film of the festival! Nominated for the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, “Julieta” is the brand-new, 20th feature by Pedro Almodóvar, as well as a familiar and entirely dedicated tribute to women from a director who’s spent the majority of his filmography worshipping the female characters inhabiting his life and his mind.
“Julieta” will premiere on Wednesday September 21, at the Athens Concert Hall (by invitation only).
