Thirty-one new cases of coronavirus in Greece have been confirmed in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update from Health Ministry spokesman Sotiris Tsiodras. Thus, the total number of coronavirus patients is 495, of which 84 are of undetermined source. Ninety patients are hospitalized and 20 are intubated. Until now, nine people have died in Greece from the virus.
The average age of intubated patients has risen to 72 years old, while 19 people have been discharged from hospitals. Up until today, more than 7,200 samples have been tested.
Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias announced that the farmers’ markets will be closed this weekend, and as of Monday the sellers’ stands will have to be at least 5 meters apart, while supermarkets will allow one customer per 15sqm compared to 10 sqm that was until today.
Mr. Chardalias also announced that only permanent island residents and supplies will be allowed to travel on the ferries, while it is forbidden for all private boats to set sail from the ports and marinas and those that are currently out in the sea, should arrive at a port by midnight on March 21.
