Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras announced an additional relief package amounting to 3.3 billion euros, as Greece enters a second lockdown on Saturday.

The package includes a one-off financial support of 800 euros for those who worked until yesterday, a two-month extension of unemployment benefits, as well as a 400 euro aid to about 130,000 non-subsidized long-term unemployed people.

Mr. Staikouras stated that the country’s cash reverses, totaling 37.5 billion euros, must be exploited prudently and responsibly.

He also noted that the fiscal measures taken in Europe to deal with the impact of the pandemic, reached 4% of GDP on average for 2020, while in Greece these measures have already exceeded 6% of GDP.
