Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, launched a tough personal assault at Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during the presentation of SYRIZA candidate MEPs at the European elections, accusing him of being “the first candidate prime minister who presents his policy, not as a promise, but as a threat to Greek society.”

Mr. Tsipras appeared optimistic and sent a message of victory expressing his certainty that the Progressive Alliance with the SYRIZA ballot would prevail: “Make no mistake. The Left, the ecology, the social-democratic left-wing, the forces of progress and democracy have not had our final say. We will not allow the far right and neoliberalism sweep through Europe. ”

He argued that the progressive world is reacting to “the evil propaganda, the fake news, the arrogant messages sent by those who are seriously responsible for the country’s bankruptcy, and who today have the audacity to threaten and point the finger.” Mr. Tsipras also assured that “the effort will be victorious on May 26”.

The Greek Prime Minister referred extensively to Europe’s struggle: “Some have predicted that Europe is preparing to turn its back on progressive forces and vote for right-wing parties. We tell them, do not be in a hurry to make your expectation a fait accompli”. Mr. Tsipras also expressed his estimate that, in a number of EU countries, the progressive forces will win.
