European leaders have to decide on the issue of Brexit, by reflecting on their historical and political responsibility rather than on the basis of anger, said Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras during his speech at the emergency European Council session, and called for a longer extension of the Brexit process until March 2020.

The Greek Prime Minister has pointed out that the European Union has nothing to gain from exerting force and has always been known for finding a common ground through consensus and flexibility.

Mr Tsipras also argued that the fact that the United Kingdom is the only country in Europe where there is such a massive movement in favor of the EU with six million signatures and thousands of citizens demonstrating, should not be ignored, since in many member states, there are solely demonstrations against the EU.
