Αlternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis, speaking to AMNA on Tuesday, sent out the message that the government would not compromise or relax their efforts to combat tax evasion, traffic in illegal goods and corruption.

“Corruption, tax evasion and traffic in illegal goods are always out for new ways to continue what they have started in the past. It is a foregone conclusion the government’s strong political volition to clash with these phenomena and what you are experiencing recently is only the tip of the iceberg”.

The minister added that certain businessmen play with fire in their attempts to evade or deceive the Greek IRS.

He issued a warning to those who obstruct or try to intimidate IRS officers. “They should be forewarned that their businesses are under scrutiny on a 24-hour basis” he said.

Concluding, he did not hesitate to underline the citizens’ responsibility towards the obliteration of fiscal fraud.
