An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded at 9.23am. in the marine area between Crete and Antikythera.
According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in a marine area 20 km south of Antikythera and it was particularly felt in Attica. The President of the Organization for Seismic Planning and Protection(OASP) Efthymios Lekkas said that the quake’s depth was large enough, which means that “we will probably not have any continuity”. He also clarified that the earthquake has nothing to do with the one that hit Albania. The Fire Department in Crete is on alert.
