The president and general director of Athens-Macedonian News Agency Michalis Psilos was elected on Sunday general secretary of the Association of the Balkan News Agencies - Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE).

Psilos was elected unanimously general secretary and will serve the office for the next two years. The Turkish news agency Anadolu will be president of the union for 2019.

Psilos thanked Anadolu for hosting this year's assembly and for the organisation of the congress on the digital media and referred to the "spirit of peace that should be the backbone of the Balkans" underlining ABNA members' contribution in this direction. "The cooperation between our agencies is of vital importance. The cooperation of our people should be our priority" he said.
