Travelers departing from the Athens airport, now have a chance to pick up a book written by acclaimed Greek writers and translated into English, as part of the “Athens as a Book” initiative.

Mini libraries featuring some of the best Greek writers, 187 books in total, have been placed at the airport’s departure areas, offering passengers the opportunity to delve in the works of Greek poets and prose writers before boarding their flight and thus “bidding farewell” to the Athens 2018 World Book Capital by reading a book.

At the same time, travelers will also have the chance to visit the #AthensAirportraits!, an exhibit featuring 52 photo stories, one for each week of the year, because an airport is really a connecting point not only of destinations, but also of stories.

Writers Thodoris Georgakopoulos and Stella Kasdagli, along with photographer Efstathia Kosti, interviewed travelers about their unique airport experiences. The 52 stories and the photos featuring the narrators of the Athens airport, compose the narration/exhibition which runs through March 31 2019 at the airport’s Athens Suburban Railway (Proastiakos) station.
