The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a clear message to Turkey to immediately end the illegal actions that violate our sovereign rights, after a Navtex (advisory) blocked areas within the Greek continental shelf until August 2, southeast of Kastelorizo, in order to carry out seismic surveys with the ship Oruc Reis.

The Armed Forces have been alerted and Greek warships have rushed to the area, while Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stressed that Greece is following the developments with confidence and absolute readiness, noting that the imposition of European sanctions against Turkey is a one-way street.

The Greek Embassy in Ankara has already protested to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, while our authorities have already raised the issue in the EU, NATO and the UN.

At the same time, the State Department spokesman called on Turkey to end plans for research activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
