The 25th Australian Greek Film Festival 2018 featuring 16 films, recent as well as classics, opens on October 9 in Sydney and on October 10 in Melbourne and will run through October 21. It will also take place in other Australian cities: Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth.

Among the films to be screened are: the acclaimed drama West of Sunshine, Jamaica, Smuggling Hendrix and a retrospective of comedies of modern Greek cinema.

The Greek drama The Last Note by award-winning Greek director Pantelis Voulgaris will open the festival. It is an adaptation of the book with the same title, by well-known novelist Ioanna Karystini which tells the story of the execution of 200 Greek political prisoners in reprisal for the killing of a German general by Greek partisans in 1944.
